Bathroom Remodel Preview (Aka..the truth about how much I love trash and vacuums)

During the week between Christmas and New Years
My hubby and I decided it might be fun to demo our master bathroom

It's the only bathroom on the bottom floor of our house
So it's the master and the guest...ugh!
And..although our 3 daughters have full reign of the two full baths upstairs, they always seem to end up in ours.

As you can see, it just wasn't functional...or pretty.
The mirror was above the sink but below the window
which meant that if I was standing at the sink, I could not see my head in the mirror.

There was also basically NO storage space.

Just a few drawers and cabinets from 1957 when our house was built.

I don't mind some good demo work but taking down a ceiling that has collected dust for
55 years is just gross.

There is a little hallway between our room and the bathroom

This was the perfect space for my new sink...

Here's the hallway from the bedroom side...
Click here to see how I had been using this little space.

One of the most fun things about this process was watching the bag full of trash we had filled get hauled away.

If you don't know about Bagsters
They are giant bags, kind of like a dumpster but they can hold more weight.
(Dumpsters are very limited)
You purchase the bag at a Home Improvement store and fill it at your "leisure".
then when you're ready, you call the trash company to come get it.
In my area, the whole thing costs about $130.
I also used this when I trimmed my yard for the spring.
It might be strange to say I love a trash removal system but when you fix up your house yourself...
trash removal is a big deal!

And here it is...all demo-ed
No more wall between the hallway and the bathroom

We covered the opening to our bedroom with black plastic since taking down 55 year plaster is messy...

Here I am with my beloved Dyson getting every piece of rock and dust that I can.
If you don't have a Dyson and your in the market for a vaccuumm...get one!
They're amazing.
I've had mine for almost 8 years and it got every last little piece.
The big reveal will be coming soon..
